CRONJÉ, Jan (19** - 19**) Teacher, Afrikaans stage and film actor and radio-announcer, public relations officer. Starting off as a performer for [[Volksteater]] in the late nineteen thirties, he was also a member of the [[Katdorings]] and performed in plays such as **, **. In 1941 he did ''[[Dagbreek]]'' ([[Wynand Du Preez]]), for the [[Krugersdorp Municipal Dramatic and Operatic Society]] (Dir. [[Hermien Domisse]]). Then became a member of the [[Pierre de Wet Geselskap]] (with [[Paula Styger]], [[Anna Neethling-Pohl]] and [[Gert van den Bergh]]) which toured South Africa in 1944. Among the plays he did were ''[[Pinkie]]'' ([[Pierre de Wet]], 1944),  He later played in a number of amateur and professional productions (including the famous 1947 Afrikaans ''[[Hamlet]]'') and worked for [[NTO]] as well as the [[SABC]].
