Jan Brill (**/**/1885? - 26/11/1948?) was an actor.

Biography

Though born Hendrik Brill, he seems to have used the name Jan or Jannie Brill for his work as an actor. Some sources also refer to him as Johan or John. In the mid-thirties he travelled with the company of Paul de Groot and acted in such plays as Verborge Sonde (1933), Misdade van die Vaders (1933) and Kain (1934), the latter at His Majesty’s Theatre in Johannesburg. After de Groot returned to Europe, Brill seems to have joined Henri van Wyk’s touring group.

The films in which he appeared are Pinkie se Erfenis (Pierre de Wet/1946), Geboortegrond (Pierre de Wet/1946), Pantoffel-Regering (Ronald Brantford & Anton Ackermann) and Sarie Marais (C. Francis Coley/1949).
