James Winkler (19**-) is an actor on stage and screen, director and playwright.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

In 1978 he performed in ERUK's production of Bacchus in die Boland and in 1982 in Gryskatte Onner Spinnerakke (SATO). For PACT he acted in Kanna, hy kô Hystoe, Die Krismis van Map Jacobs, Kruispaaie, Vereeniging, Vereniging (as the saboteur), Faan se Stasie (1985), The Road to Slagtersnek (1986). He toured through Britain and Israel with ERUK's production of Zuurveld. He played in Broerse (KKNK 1997).

He played in films such as Billy Boy and Night of Terror and on television he appeared in House of Markowitz and Senor Smith (1985), the SABC2 drama series Sterk Skemer.

Two of the plays he wrote have been performed: Debbie Go Home and Fit for Trial, the latter during PACT's Pot-Pourri Festival, starring Ben Kruger and Zeona Jacobs.
