There are two South African theatre personalities by this name.

Jacques Malan (born 1903-1989). Journalist.

Biography

He was married to Hélène Olivier. From 1939 to 1944 he was the editor of Trek. He was known for his Marxist ideas. He eventually settled in Italy with his wife, where he died in 1989.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

He was the author of the play Pels which was performed in Cape Town in 1935.

Jacques Malan (19**-). Actor.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

He appeared on stage in Equus as Alan Strang, 1978 and as Fanie van Aarde & Evert van Graan in Die Van Aardes van Grootoor at the Market Theatre, 1978.

In 1979 he had a role in the comedy film Pretoria O Pretoria!.
