Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance
He started out as a member of the Barend Fourie Geselskap, an Afrikaans touring company which began its tour in Caledon on 6 April 1934, playing Sy Pa se Skuld ("His Father's Fault/Debt") by D.P. du Toit. Other members of the company were Ria Olivier and Joan de Villiers, playing under the names Jac or "Lokkie". He went on to become a regular member of the Hendrik Hanekom Geselskap, which he joined in 1935, to take over the role of "Danie" in Oom Paul.
