SMITH, Jaci (197*- ). South African stage actress, originally from Cape Town. Married to actor Gys de Villiers.

Biography

Training

Graduated with a Bilingual Performers Diploma from University of Cape Town Drama Department in 1993. She also studied opera under Sarita Stern.

Career

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

As an actress her theatre work includes Kwamanzi, Horn of Sorrow, Journey (Hearts & Eyes Theatre Collective), Macbeth and Boy Meets Boy (both directed by Marthinus Basson), Fiela's Child, I Love you, You're Perfect, Now Change and Honk! both for which she got Vita Award nominations.

Amongst other plays Jaci co-created In Search of the Perfect Dish, Tower of Tongues, Virtual Bioscope (a musical), She Gau and For Better, For Wors.

Winner of the Fleur du Cap for Most Promising Student in 1993.
