(19*-) Actor, director, company manager, cultural organiser.


Biography

Born in the Cape. Completed a B.. degree at the University of the Western Cape in 1983, and in 1985 studied Theatre-in-education, acting and directing at the British Theatre Association.

Worked with Group 44 (1970s), founded the Belhar Cast theatre group, producing and directing (1979 till late 1980s) Worked professionally for various companies, including the Space Theatre, CAPAB and the Baxter Theatre. Manager of Youth Programmes and head of the Education and Audience Development for CAPAB (from its inception till 1997), then became a freelance actor and community worker (1997-). Founder and projects coordinator of the community and educational theatre company Cape Heart (1997-).

Also a respected adjudicator for theatre festivals and eisteddfodau, and a Forum Theatre facilitator.

Theatre

Acting credits include include Elke Ou Storie (Space Theatre, 1970s) , The Final Sting of the Dying Wasp (Space Theatre, 1979), Peter Snyders's Political Joke, (1986); The Horse-Thief (1986); Suip! (Baxter Theatre, 1999 - there were six South African runs and two international runs of this acclaimed play),Send for Dolly (Artscape), Fire Raisers (Baxter Theatre), Kanna Hy Kô Hystoe (Baxter Theatre), Vatmaar (Baxter Theatre, 2002), Valley Song (Baxter Theatre, 2003), Kringe in die Bos, and Shirley, Goodness and Mercy (Baxter, 2007), PlayGround (Baxter Theatre, 200*), The Fire Raiswers, Twaalfde Nag; Krismis van Map Jacobs; Interrupting Henry; The Tempest (2010); Die Laaste Karretjiegraf (Fugard Theatre, 2013).
