Hugh Goldie (1919-2010) [1]. British born actor and director.

Career

He joined the Johannesburg Reps as resident director in 1959. Returned to England to pursue a successful career as director and actor. Later became Director of Operations at the Theatre Royal, Windsor in England, where a theatre was named after him.


Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

Productions include Dylan Thomas’s Under Milkwood (1959), Shaw’s Caesar and Cleopatra (opening play at the Alexander Theatre, 1960), Affairs of State, Bedtime Story, The Deadly Game, The Coral King, Hot Summer Night, A Clean Kill (1960), Time to Kill (1961), Bedtime Story (1965), Busybody, A Day in the Life Of… (1967).
