Original Dutch play, published in Leiden, by Leendert Herdingh, 1811. (F.C.L. Bosman suggests it was translated by "Van der Vyver", but the other sources contradict this.)

Performance history in South Africa
1818: Performed by Tot Nut en Vermaak) in Cape Town on 25 May 1818, as an afterpiece to De Broeders op den Toets (Volméranges).
1846: Performed by Het Privaat Hollandsch Tooneellievend Gezelschap) in Cape Town in the Bree Street Theatre (cnr of Dorp Street), on 3 April 1846, as an afterpiece to Roland de Monglave, of De Zegepraal der Onschuld (Tréogate).
