The Hermit Theatre was a supper theatre venue in Durban founded by Deon van Zyl in 1978.

Situated in the Hermit Vegetarian Restaurant, a tiny little eatery in Hermitage Street off the Esplanade, which opened with Puny Little Life directed by Clive Rodel, with Deon van Zyl and Paul Spence. Garth Anderson also presented numerous productions at this popular venue.

Plays performed there include Three for Tea (a triple bill of one-act plays by Muthal Naidoo), Lysistrata (adapted and directed by Clive Rodel, June to July 1980). Coming Home by Muthal Naidoo (1982),
