Performance history in South Africa
1860: Performed on 29 March by the resurrected Cape Town Dramatic Club as their first performance, partly in association with Sefton Parry, followed by the travesty Shylock, or The Merchant of Venice Preserved (Talfourd). The brass band of the Cape Royal Rifles also performed.
