In 1935 he was appointed Honorary Consul of Norway based in Mombasa and the following year he became a member of the Kenya and Uganda Harbour Advisory Board. In 1939 this probably led to him being appointed to the Table Bay Harbour Advisory Board. Harry and Adele’s son, born on 29 January 1915, was Laurence Gandar, the highly respected anti-apartheid editor of the Rand Daily Mail. (FO) |
