HEWITT, Hansell (1922-1989) Scholar and lecturer of the Classics, Actor, Director.

Biography

He was born in Cape Town on 5 April 1922 and died in Grahamstown on 5 April 1989.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

He translated Menaechmi by Palutus into English and the directed a Rhodes University Drama Department production of the play in April 1969.

He regularly acted in productions by the Rhodes University Drama Department, among others in The Diary of Iris Vaughan (1969) and Bagasie (1972).
