Hans die Skipper ("Hans the seaman or sea captain") by D.F. Malherbe.

A renowned Afrikaans novel, which was adapted for the stage by the author. and first produced by Hendrik Hanekom and his Toneelskool in Bloemfontein in 1934/5*? He took it on tour in the years following. Also produced by KAT under the title Die Seeman ("The Seaman") in November 1934, directed by P. Tack with Herman Steytler in the lead.

Published by Nasionale Pers in 1933 with the title Die Seeman (or to give it the full title: Die Seeman: "Hans-die-Skipper" gedramatiseer.

In 1952 a famous Afrikaans film was made of it featuring André Huguenet in the name role, Wena Naudé as his wife and a young Gert van den Bergh in the juvenile lead, also starring Albie van der Bijl. Produced by African Film Productions. *
