HAUM

Origins

Acronym for Hollandsch-Afrikaansche Uitgevers Maatshappij ("Reformed Afrikaans Publishing Company").

A publishing house founded in 1899 when the Cape Town branch of the publishing firm Jacques Dusseau & Co of Amsterdam, which had run into financial difficulties by the late 1890s, was taken over by the Pretoria based branch of J.H. de Bussy & Co of Amsterdam, and the joint company began to publish under the new name.


Contribution to South African Theatre, Film, media and Performance

They published a number plays, collections of plays and books about theatre and the arts.
