Hermanus Petrus Joynt was an active member of the CJV Warmwater at the start of the 20th century. Author (under the name "Hendrik") of the play Een Paar Broeivogels, which the CJV produced. (Ludwig Binge thinks it may however be an early version of C.J. Langenhoven's Die Onmoontlike Tweeling - p69). His youngest son, Ramsay Joynt, was a film producer.
