Guy de Lancey. (19*-) Actor, Director, Designer.
Studied Drama at Rhodes University, graduating with BA Honours in 1984.
Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance
While at university he appeared in the ATKV Kampustoneel production of Môre is ‘n Lang Dag which subsequently transferred to the Market Theatre. His debut with PACT was in The Comedy of Errors. He toured with Wild Honey for PACT. He has appeared in Die Ketter and Die Huigelaar (TRUK, 1986), Entertaining Mr Sloane, Looking-Glass, Die Prys, National Madness, Look Back in Anger, Wuthering Heights, The Real Inspector Hound and he starred in Telegrams From Hell and in David Mamet’s Oleanna in 1993. Acted in Women Beware Women (2007), Buried Child (2008), Glengarry Glen Ross (2008) and played the role of Lenny, the director, in The Bird Watchers directed by Fugard in May 2011.
He designed the 2011 production of Statements After an Arrest Under the Immorality Act.
As a student he directed Harold Pinter's The Collection.
Television and film
Television credits include Quartet and Playing With Fire. Played Dr Ian Robinson in the TV educational programme Soul City
Recipient of the 1985 AA Mutual Life Vita Award for Best Newcomer for his role in Môre is ‘n Lang Dag.
