Guardians of the Deep is a short play by Val Taylor (1935 - )[1].

The play looks at the plight of the smaller fishing communities around the world with the dawn of the new millenium.

Performance history in South Africa

2002: First performed in August by Theatre for Africa in the Theatre on the Square, directed by John Martin, with an international cast including M. Sajitha, Aleks Kamau, Raymond Kasawaya, Esailama Diouf, Paula Sandroni, Jody Abrahams and Mohamed el Hagrasy. It was staged on a double bill with Of Birds and Beasts to coincide with the World Summit for Sustainable Development in Sandton, Johannesburg.
