Grist to the Mill, or The Miser of Verdun is a comic drama in two acts by James Robinson Planché (1796–1880)[1].
Also found simply as Grist to the Mill
Contents
The original text
First performed in the Theatre Royal, Haymarket on 22 February 1844 and was published in 1844 by S.G. Fairbrother. In 1856 the performance text appeared as issue 264 of French's Standard Drama.

Performance history in South Africa
1860: Performed as Grist to the Mill, or The Miser of Verdun in the Harrington Street Theatre, Cape Town, by the Sefton Parry company on 14 February, under the patronage of the Cape Volunteer Corps. The afterpiece is The Rifle and How to Use It (Bridgeman).
1862: Performed in Port Elizabeth by the Sefton Parry company as Grist to the Mill in the Port Elizabeth Dramatic Society's newly complete New Theatre on 2 June.
