GARLICK, Gillian (19**-) Actress on stage, televison and radio.

Biography

She met her husband, Michael McCabe when they worked together in PACT’s production of Butley.

Youth

Training

She studied at the University of Cape Town.


Career

She spent four years with CAPAB. She moved to Johannesburg in 1970 where she did productions for PACT as wel as Pieter Toerien. Apart from acting she teaches speech and drama to children.

Performed in So What About Love, Investigations into the Death of a Greek, Charley's Aunt, What the Butler Saw (as “Geraldine”, for Don Hughes), Veronica's Room (for PACT), Otherwise Engaged (as “Beth” for Pieter Toerien), A Streetcar Named Desire (as “Stella”), A Murder is Announced, Blithe Spirit, Butley (with PACT), Lonely Girl (with PACT) and in Say Who You Are (at the Academy Theatre).

Terra Nova, The Real Thing, A Delicate Balance, The Lion in Winter.

She starred in Vladimir Gubartev’s Sarcophagus at the André Huguenet Theatre in 1988, * 


Awards, etc

Three Leaf Arts Award for Best Supporting Role for her playing of Alais in The Lion in Winter.

Nominated DALRO Award, 1993 for A Delicate Balance (best supporting actress on the English stage)
