Geraldine Naidoo (19**-) Playwright, director and producer.

Biography

Born and grew up in Reservoir Hills, Durban. After school she moved to Johannesburg where she obtained an Honours degree – Bachelor of Arts (Dramatic Art) - at the University of the Witwatersrand. She majored in writing and performing arts management. She worked briefly as a performer and facilitator for the Non-Violence Project of South Africa, as an executive recruitment consultant and training manager, for the Gauteng provincial government, and then as an HR manager, for Standard Bank. Then moved into theatre management.

Married to actor-writer Matthew Ribnick in 2006.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

Plays she co-wrote (with Matthew Ribnick) and directed include The Chilli Boy (2002), Hoot (2005), Monkey Nuts (2009).

As producer she was also responsible for One Man, One Goat (with Nik Rabinowitz, 2007).

Awards, etc.

She was awarded the Rosalie van der Gucht prize for new directors for Hoot, award year 2007.
