Gary D'Alessandro (19*-). Actor, singer.

Biography

Gary was born in Natal to Italian parents who moved to South Africa in the 1950s.

Training

He completed an honours degree in drama at Wits Drama School.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

For NAPAC's Loft Theatre Company he was seen in Kiss of the Spiderwoman as Valentin, Trofimov in The Cherry Orchard, working with Dieter Reible in The Three Musketeers, Badenhorst in Somewhere on the Border and as the evil ringmaster in The Circus Adventure.

He starred in Macbeth (NAPAC 1990), Shadowlands, Never the Sinner which opened at the Leonard Rayne Theatre on 28 September 1991, Spider's Web (Pieter Toerien 1991), The Sum of Us (1992). He starred in James Sherman’s Beau Jest in 1993, Scenes from an Execution (Market Theatre 1994), The Choice (1995).

He sang in Nataniël's production La Mano Fria in 1998. He played Luke in the television series Isidingo.
