(Francois or "Fransie"). (1894-1979) Critic and academic.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

A professor of Afrikaans-Nederlands ("Afrikaans and Dutch") at the University of Stellenbosch, he wrote erudite criticism respected by professional players but not always understood by the public. Also reviewed the Unie-Debatsvereniging's Candida (16 th June, 1927), the rehearsals of André Huguenet's production of Mal Hans in December 1930, Oom Paul by the Hanekom Geselskap (Die Burger, 15 October 1935).

He acted as judge for the Eisteddfod (e.g. in 1936).
