Frances Day [1]. (1908-1984) An American-born actress and singer.

Biography

Born Frances Victoria Schenck in New Jersey, she began her career in New York City and then achieved great popularity in the UK in the 1930s as a risqué musical comedy star and cabaret entertainer. Also made a large number of films. Died in Brighton, UK.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

Did a season at the Colosseum in Johannesburg in 1948.
