Sheil's play first Performed at the Theatre Royal Covent Garden, February 10th, 1819. Published in London by W. Clowes, 1819, W. Simpkin and R. Marshall, 1821.
Performance history in South Africa
Performed in the African Theatre Cape Town by the All the World's a Stage on 22 June 1833. It was part of a benefit evening for Mrs Black, which included also the 2 act farce The Deaf Lover, or How to cure the Gout (Pilon).
