BA and BA Honours (Drama and English) Rhodes University (1988 – 1992), MA degree (Entertainment Education for Public Health - CCMS), University of KwaZulu-Natal (2004 – 2005) and Ph.D. (Theatre for Development and Health : Culture, Communication and Media Studies), University of KwaZulu-Natal (2008 – 2010).

Has been the programme manager of Twist Theatre Development Projects[1], and directed works presented at the Musho! International Theatre Festival at the Catalina Theatre in Durban over the years.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

The co-editor (with Roel Twijnstra) of Theatre Directing in South Africa, Skills and Inspirations , published by Twist Theatre Development Projects and Jacana Publishers, 2014 and the author of an article called "Popular Community Theatre", published in Martin Middeke, Peter Paul Schnierer and Greg Homann (editors).
