Emilie Bevan (fl 1890s) was a theatre performer and company manager.

Also referred to as Emily Bevan on occasion, she was the sister of the 19th century actress Affey Bevan (fl 1880s-1890s)

Biography

Though little much has been found about her so far, she is described by D.C. Boonzaier (1923) as a performer of "deeper roles" and seems to have been an active performer in various places during the late 1880s and the 1890s.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

A member of the Chambers Theatrical Company in Cape Town in 1890, for which she appeared in plays such as The Bells of Haslemere and In the Ranks.

In 1892 she formed her own company, the Emilie Bevan Comedy Company and leased The Vaudeville Theatre in Cape Town for a season. In 1894 she once more did a season with her company, performing in the Opera House, Cape Town. (For the plays performed, see the entry on the Emilie Bevan Comedy Company)
