Biography

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

A member of the Chambers Theatrical Company in Cape Town in 1890, for which she appeared in plays such as The Bells of Haslemere and In the Ranks.

In 1892 she formed her own company, the Emilie Chambers Comedy Company and leased The Vaudeville Theatre in Cape Town for a season. In 1894 she once more did a season with her company, performing in the Opera House, Cape Town. (For the plays performed, see the entry on the Chambers Theatrical Company)
