Emgxobhozweni is a play in isiXhosa by B.B. Mkonto. In the play the author attempts to deal with the theme of assertion and heirdom. The main protagonist, No-ankile, crosses swords with her stepdaughter, Nomonde, who tries to thwart all attempts of the former to gain control of the family.

Performance history in South Africa

1996: A performance of the play at the Nico Theatre opening 6 May 1996 was directed by Mavis Taylor. The cast: Nomkhita Bavuma (No-ankile), Theo Vilakazi (Vakele), Zoliswa Kawe (Nomnode), Vukile Handula (Phindile), Mziyana Lavisa (Vusinja), Mantwa Cekiso (Sizeka) and others.
