FOUCHÉ, Elsa (18*-19*) Actress and company manager. *** Joined the Plaat-Stultjes Geselskap in 1930 and toured with a number of plays, including with the plays East Lynne, Wania, In die Kloue van Satan and Moederloos. In 1934, on the death of Jean Plaat-Stultjes, continued touring with some of the plays. She joined the renewed Hanekom Company on their tour of small Free State towns with Oom Paul in 1935, playing "Esther". However, she married her co-actor* Willie Beckmann (who had played "Danie" in Oom Paul) in the same year and they formed the Elsa Fouché Geselskap to tour with In die Mag van Tiberius ("Under the sway of Tiberius") an adaptation by Beckmann of a novel by Augusta J.
