Een Hedendaagsch Duel ("a contemporary duel") is a dramatic sketch by "Giuseppe"

The original text

The only reference to be found is the one in Bosman (1980). Since Bosman lists it as a "dramatiese skets" by a "Giuseppe", it is probably a Dutch burlesque version of Il Duello al Buio ("The duel in the dark") a melodrama in two acts with a Italian libretto by Giuseppe Checcherini (1777–1840)[1], which was published by Tipografia Flautina in 1835[2]

Translations and adaptations

Performance history in South Africa

1867: Performed in Dutch as Een Hedendaagsch Duel (Guiseppe) by Aurora II in Paarl, as an afterpiece to Gustaaf Wasa (Von Kotzebue) on 7 November.
