(b. **/**/**** - d. **/**/****). Actress. Early in 1918 the magazine Stage and Cinema announced that a nation-wide competition would be held to cast the roles of the queens in the film versions of King Solomon’s Mines and its sequel, Allan Quatermain. The sole judge of the entries would be H. Lisle Lucoque, who was to direct both pictures for African Film Productions. In the issue of 27 July 1918 it was announced that Edna Joyce of Pretoria would appear in the role of the Queen of Sheba in King Solomon’s Mines. The following week her photograph appeared on the cover of the magazine. In the film she acted opposite Claude Ramsay as King Solomon, but it appears to have been her only role and it is not known what became of her. (FO)
