The LM Radio Museum and Sound Archive
This site records the history of the Radio Clube de Moçambique, and Lourenco Marques Radio (or better known as LM Radio), the first commercial radio station in Africa (active 1935-1974), broadcasting on short wave from Lourenço Marques in neighbouring Mozambique. Particularly well supported for its popular music programmes, the station was also hugely influential in South Africa as an alternative to the state owned SABC.
