Duncan Johnson (19*-) Actor, television presenter.

Biography

Youth

Training

Studied drama at the University of Stellenbosch.

Career

Duncan joined the Breughel Theatre in Stellenbosch for a few seasons, notably playing the lead in their touring production of Die Asjaspassie (Dario Fo). He later quit the stage to go on to become a prominent continuity announcer for M.Net TV and later KykNet.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

He played "Nines" in District Six – The Musical.

he has appeared on stage in Slegs vir Almal (ATKV Kampustoneel 1985), Van Arme B.B. (student production 1986), August, August, August (student production 1987), Die Vroue van Troje (1987), Miss Julie (UTS 1989), The Caucasian Chalk Circle (Grahamstown Festival 1991), Houd-den-Bek (PACT 1990), Juno and the Paycock (1990), Jacques and his Master (PACT 1991, My Vrou se Man se Lyk se Tas (KKNK 2013), Krismis van Map Jacobs (2015).


In November 1994 he had a role in the radio broadcast of Kanna hy kô Hystoe.

Winner of the Fleur du Cap Theatre Award for Most Promising Student in 1986.
