A blank verse tragedy by John Home (1722-1808).

It was first performed in 1756 in Edinburgh.

The play was a big success in both Scotland and England for decades, attracting many notable actors of the period.

20 September 1823: Performed by English Theatricalsin the African Theatre with The Sleeping Draught (Penley).

16 July 1825: Performed by English Theatricalsin the African Theatre Douglas with The Weathercock (Forrest)
