Don Rubin (19*-). Canadian Journalist, critic and academic.

Biography

Born in new York, he studied ** Became a lecturer, later Chair of the Department of Theatre at Toronto’s York University and founding director of York’s graduate program in Theatre Studies (M.A. and Ph.D.). Also became the editor of Routledge’s enormous World Encyclopedia of Contemporary Theatre and was founding editor of the national theatre journal Canadian Theatre Review. He is a member of the Executive Committee of IATC and Reviews Editor for their Journal Critical Stages and he was also on the editorial board of the South African Theatre Journal.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

Among his interests are African and South African theatre and he spent 6 months in South Africa in 2006, teaching at the University of Stellenbosch Drama Department.
