Don moved to South Africa from Zambia in the late 1960s.

As actor he had roles in The Merry Wives of Windsor (Maynardville January 1969), Three Plays in Light and Shadow (The Space, 197*), Home (The Space , 197*), The Price, Othello, The Robe, Anyone for Denis?, The Cherry Orchard, Oliver!, Romeo and Juliet, The Tempest, Twelfth Night, Poor Murderer, The Homecoming, Same Old Moon, Loot, Measure for Measure, Twigs, Beyond Reasonable Doubt, Peril at End House, Thark, Master Class (Pownall), Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. He played Escalus in Measure for Measure, Maynardville (1987).

Directed Home, Send for Dolly, The Man Most Likely To, Blue Remembered Hills, Entertaining Mr Sloane, The Chairs and The Lesson.
