Die Verliefde Indringer
Die Verliefde Indringer ("The Amorous Intruder") is the title given to an Afrikaans translation from the original original Italian, English or French of a play variously ascribed to a one of three authors.
Provenance of the text
A advertising pamphlet from 1932 by Paul de Groot refers to it as an (unnamed) play by Dario Niccodemi. However, the Cape Argus refers to it as a translation of G.B. Shaw's Mrs Warren's Profession (though this seems very unlikely). Much later a list of productions by Paul de Groot published in Filma (Kultuur) (January 1946), ascribes Die Verliefde Indringer to French playwright Paul Géraldy (1885-1983).
According to Binge (citing Die Burger of 18 October and 3 November, 1932) states that the name was apparently changed to Die Oorwinnaar ("The Conqueror") for the national tour featuring De Groot and Yvonne de Morlay.
