Die Twisappel (literally "the apple of contention", i.e. "The bone of contention") is a four act comedy in Afrikaans by W.A. de Klerk (1917-1996).

First published by Nasionale Boekhandel in 1955.

Performance history in South Africa

1955: Directed by Leonie Pienaar for K.A.T. in August 1955.

1955-56: Performed on tour by National Theatre Organisation, playing 208 performances over the 1955-56 seasons. Directed by Anna Richter-Visser, starring Mathilde Hanekom as Mutti, Limpie Basson, Eghard van der Hoven, Tilana Hanekom, Jaco van der Westhuizen, Johann Nell as Mijnheer van Vlaanderen, Cobus Rossouw, Sann de Lange, Leonora Nel, Pieter Bezuidenhout and Ben Cronjé, who was replaced by Wimpie Basson. Décor by Kobus Esterhuysen.

1956: 18 to 28 January, Library Theatre, Johannesburg. Kay du Toit, Anne Brink, Leon Brink, Johan Lubbe also appeared in this production.
