(“The Quiet Hearth”) by H.A. Fagan. A comedy in three acts which satirises literary inspiration and literature studies at universities.

Published in 1945 in the collection Twee Blyspele (“Two Comedies”).

Performance history in South Africa

First performed by K.A.T. in November 1944, directed by Anna Viljoen. Jim Retief in the lead role, Helena Louw, Gallie Muller, Irma du Plessis, Gilliam van Niekerk, Sappie Botha, repeated in 1946. Taken on tour by the Hendrik Hanekom Toneelgeselskap 1945-46.

The play was performed by a group of amateur players under the direction of Janie Stofberg in Worcester in 1945.
