Die Skaapwagters van Bethlehem ("The shepherds of Bethlehem") is a one-act play by Uys Krige (1910–1987).

The original text

Written circa 1937 and based on the Medieval tradition of the Nativity Play, the piece sets the tale of the shepherds in a partially South African context.

The text first published in the collection Die Wit Muur en Ander Eenbedrywe (1940) and later also in Vier Eenbedrywe (1968).
