Die Selfsugtige Skoolmeester ("the selfish schoolmaster") is a farce by J.H.H. de Waal and P. de Waal.

The original text

P. de Waal, the brother of playwright J.H.H. de Waal, wrote a one-act farce, similar to his brother's piece called 'n Les oor di Tier, for the CJV of Cape Town's Nieuwe Kerk. The two plays were later combined to create this play, now called Die Selfsugtige Skoolmeester.

Translations and adaptations

Translated into English as The Selfish Schoolteacher by an unnamed author.

Performance history in South Africa

1914: Performed in English (as The Selfish Schoolteacher) by the CJV Warmwater near Oudtshoorn.
