The original text
1802: Presented by Hoogduitsch Gezelschap van het Liefhebbery Theater (lit. "High German Company of the Amateur Theatre"]]) at the African Theatre. This was apparently the earliest advertisement for a theatrical presentation available, published in the Kaapsche Courant on 13 February 1802.

Performance history in South Africa
First mentioned 14 June 1715 , when Griffin played Sir Arthur Addlepate at the theatre in Lincoln's Inn Fields.. Apparently Based in part on: May Day by George Chapman. Published as Love in a Sack. As it is now acted at the New-Theatre in Lincoln's-Inn Fields in London by W. Mears, 1715 .
