The play tells the story of a South African version of a Walter Mitty type figure, with tragic overtones. First broadcast by the SABC on *** , first staged by PACT in 1974 with *** as Lafras. The play received the *** and *** awards. Often performed thereafter. First published by Tafelberg in 1971. CAPAB produced an award-winning version of it in 1992 with George Ballot?** as Lafras, directed by Jannie Gildenhuys.
