Die Oosterlig was an afternoon Afrikaans language newspaper first published in Port Elizabeth in 1937. On May 1, 1993, it was bought out by Die Burger and has now assumed that name. Although Die Oosterlig's circulation was never more than 10,000, the purchase by Die Burger managed to double that. The combined daily circulation of the Western Cape and Eastern Cape editions in 2007 reached 91,665, mainly because of the inclusion of Die Son.
