The original text
A one-act play in the absurdist mold written by Van Niekerk for the USAT Dramafees of 1978 while still a student at Stellenbosch University. It was originally strangely listed as Die Duiwel, Sy Helper, en die Drie ligte Kooie in the festival programme.

1978: Performed as Die Duiwel, Sy Helper, en die Drie ligte Kooie at the USAT Dramafees, by the ASK at the University of Stellenbosch, on 16 March. Directed by Andrew Donaldson, with Steffen Zoutendijk, Francois de Klerk, Claire Wannenberg, Steve Collins, Nicki van Niekerk, Neil Muller, Annelie Lombard, Debbie Foster, Willie Lategan and Paul Garisch. Stage manager Ynor Meyer, assisted by Veronica Mayr.
1978: Also performed at the Sharp Festival of the Arts (also a student festival), in Grahamstown, now listed as Die Duiwel, sy Helper en die Drie Ligtekooie.
197*: Performed as Die Duiwel, Sy Handlanger en die Drie Ligtekooie by Dinkteater in Pretoria, directed by Danie Burger.
