Deon studied at the University of Natal.
Career
Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance
His first major role was as Romeo in the Theatre Workshop production of Romeo and Juliet. He starred as Petruchio in Tha Taming of the Shrew, Solange in The Maids, and Demetrius in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
Macbeth (CAPAB 1981)
He founded the Hermit Theatre in Durban in June 1978.

Awards, etc
He received the Durban Critics' Circle Award for his contribution to the arts in 1979.
