Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller. The classic twentieth century American tragedy of the common man. First produced in London 1948 and New York in 1949. First produced South Africa by the Sarah Sylvia Company at the new Johannesburg Reps Theatre in Johannesburg in 1951/2?* (with Israeli actor Jacob Ben-Ami as "Willy Loman" and Leon Gluckman as "Biff", co-directed by Ben-Ami and Gluckman.) The first locally produced version was by Leonard Schach??****. Other award-winning productions include PACT in 1975 (Joe Stewardson, Diane Wilson, Bill Flynn and Richard Haines), CAPAB in 1979 (directed by Roy Sergeant, with Michael Atkinson), ** and Bobby Heaney Productions (in association with The Baxter Theatre Centre) in 2001 (directed by Bobby Heaney, with Bill Flynn as Willy Loman). Translated into Afrikaans as Dood van 'n Verkoopsman *??** and produced by *** in 19**??
