Performance history in South Africa
It was first produced in South Africa in 1922 at the Opera House in Pretoria, starring Madge Fabian.
1948: It was the play chosen for the first English production done by NTO and was directed for them by Leontine Sagan and featuring Siegfried Mynhardt as Lob. Others in the cast were Lorna Cowell, Vivien Drummond, Honor Edmonds, Hazel Casson, Mary Mitchell, Cecil Cartwright, Frank Wise, Robert Courtney, Oswald van Blerk and Enone Murray. Sets designed and built by Cecil Pym, costumes by Else Uhlmann and Joyce Burch.
