De Ster van het Noorden ("star of the north") is a Dutch musical comedy by J. Belinfante ()[].


The original text

Based on the French opera L'Etoile du Nord by Eugene Scribe (1791-1861) and Giacomo Meyerbeer (1791-1864), published in Paris by Brandus, in Berlin by Schlesinger and in London by Beale and Co in 1854.

Performance history in South Africa

1872: Performed in Dutch as Wie is de Prins? by Aurora II in the hall of the Germania Hall, Cape Town on 8 August, with De Vadervloek, of Misdaad en Wroeging (Van der Stempel).
